At Epic Games I took point on creating the visual identity for a few different cross-brand promotional campaigns and art direction for a major seasonal release and event. I would then put together a digital style guide and present the art direction to the production design team, who would then go and apply that direction to different digital asset outputs (social, commercial) and localization materials.
In the meantime since, Ive been working hard in a freelance capacity, creating brand identities, building out comprehensive UI system wireframes and arting them, and composing musical scores for video games.
For nearly half a decade prior, Id been doing a broad range of design work at Bungie, primarily working on Destiny 2. I joined the VizD (Visual Identity / Design, later renamed to Bungie Creative Studios) team in April of 2019, right after Bungie became an independent studio again, following the split from Activision. I helped develop and refine our internal systems and processes for getting our first expansion SKUs shipped independently, and for every new expansion and content season since then until I was affected by the studio-wide layoffs on October 30th, 2023. At Bungie, I worked on everything from in-game art and design, internal studio branding, original artwork illustration for limited and evergreen merch and apparel, website layout / design, 3D art layer compositing, in-engine photography, physical wayfinding signage & iconography language for the newly constructed studio HQ, promotional material across digital and physical media formats, manually built localized metadata image sets with thousands of
outputs for first party storefront platforms, retail merch packaging, live event spaces, and innumerable production design projects as needed. In late 2022, I transitioned my focus from Destiny 2 design, and onto the broader internal Bungie brands visual design and its detailed identity. Prior to Bungie, I spent two years doing much the same type of work at Alaska Airlines, as the primary brand studio designer within their internal creative agency team. I was responsible for everything from commercial aircraft liveries and marketing campaigns to complex event spaces for press release junkets, cross-brand activations, and shareholder events. Ive also been working in music composition, sound design, and audio production since I was a kid. Ill happily play whatever instrument is in front of me, and Ill try my best to do something interesting with it. I grew up playing in all kinds of bands around the state in my teens and twenties before shifting focus to dedicated compositional work for video game scores and film, which has been immensely gratifying and exciting.
